Winter

Roses - March 2011
I posted the roses first because it is definitely winter here in Fairbanks, Alaska. Even though at 7:00 am this morning it was bright sunshine, there is one heck a lot of snow...and it was only 7 degrees at our house.

Saint Anton Drive, Fairbanks, Alaska - March 5, 2011
This picture was taken on the road we drive in to our house on. We live outside of town, which is really nice. It's quiet, and there are neighbors but they are about a 1/2 acre away on all sides.

The beginning of our driveway up to the house.
As you can see we will have snow for a very long, long time. However, when the weather finally turns it seems to evaporate more than melt. Another oddity of where we live.

Back yard at our house. This is our storage shed with snow piled all around. It has survived the heavy snowfall pretty well.
So, just in case you think you have a lot of snow, I wanted to share these photos with you. Winter this year has been strange for almost everyone. Global Warming? I believe it is. You may believe differently, but nevertheless, we all have a bit of snow to get through before the real flowers come out!!

Here's to us...may we all survive "break up" (Spring to you Lower 48 folks!)

  1. Love the photos! Seems you guys bought that snow blower at the right time, huh! I think you need a last blast of snow for the dog races, don't ya?

Even though it has a snowed a bunch there, I love seeing the blue skies and it takes me right back to my days of living in Fairbanks.

P.S. I'm a total believer in global warming
